Ramon Unzueta

 Ramon Unzueta (La Habana,1962, Cuba) realiza estudios en la Escuela Nacional de Artes Aplicadas, en la ciudad de La Habana. Desde 1992 reside en Espana. En su pais natal trabajo como ilustrador y dibujante para editoriales de educacion superior e infantiles; igualmente colabora en revistas y semanarios de amplia circulacion. Entre otras empresas artisticas, ha ilustrado varios libros de la premiada escritora cubana Zoe Valdes. En su obra, de pequeno o gran formato, emplea diversas tecnicas y recursos: acuarela, Oleo, pastel, etc., todas con igual exito. A nivel tematico, en los ultimos tiempos Unzueta ha ampliado sus horizontes pintando no solo sus caracteristicos retratos femeninos (negritas, actrices, bohemias parisinas, muchachas de barrio, virgenes), sino tambien paisajes urbanos y hasta placidas marinas, donde los tonos azules son los protagonistas. Sus obras han sido expuestas en galerias y museos de Europa y Estados Unidos. Unzueta Gallery, donde su obra permanece expuesta, se encuentra ubicada en el corazon de la pequena Habana.

 Ramon Unzueta (Havana, 1962, Cuba) makes studies in the National School of Applied Arts, in the city of Havana. From 1992 he resides in Espana. In his native country he worked as illustrator and sketcher for various editorials and; also it collaborated in magazines and newspapers alike. Among other artistic ventures, Zoe Valdes has illustrated several books of the awarded Cuban writer Zoe Valdes. In his work, wether small or large format he uses various techniques and,resources: watercolor, oil, pastel,etc., all with equal success. lately Unzueta has extended its horizons painting not only its characteristic feminine pictures (Young Black Girls,actresses, Bohemians, girls of district, virgins, Etc), but also urban landscapes(those street corners with lanterns full of charm!) and even easy going seascapes, where the main characters are the blue tones. His works have been exposed in galleries and museums of Europe and the United States. Unzueta Gallery, where his work remains shown permanently, in the heart of the pequena Habana.
